Do you have any recording device in your vehicle?

Notice a lot of youtube crash footage is from in car camera devices, I think they record if a jolt/impact is detected, they then record the 10 seconds or so before impact and then afterwards thus saving memory space, they seem pretty cheap to buy and set up.

They seem popular in America/Russia, I think they would be a great addition to cars in this country, would save millions and lot of man hours and hassle. Plus would it stand up in court if you had one and showed the footage of a dispute?

The ones I have seen used in the States record continuously and have 2 cameras, one on the driver and the other facing forward. In the event of an accident, the footage is stored on the HD/memory and can be used as evidence.
it also brings down insurance if you have one fitted over there!

It's quite amazing how many people these days are falling over themselves to record the evidence for the prosecution. The CPS must love it...

Remember, we all make mistakes. Want yours on video?

I've started recording my trips both on the bike and in the car.
Its a portable one though so a tiny bit more work than just getting in and turning the key. (slide it into the mount, press on, press record)

If I felt I was at fault I wouldn't bloody show the footage :D

but I'd be all over it like a rash if I felt innocent

Don't forget to flood youtube with really exciting videos of people nearly going through red lights or not leaving you enough room or whatever.

Already am ;)

My latest addition is probably the most boring "nothing happens" video yet. Just a hesitant woman that got on my **** as she didn't seem to know where she was going.

One thing I wont be doing is uploading people driving whilst on the phone or red light jumpers or any other boring **** that doesn't directly involve me. People calling out numberplates crack me up.
Get a ***ing life!

Didn't you stack your car into a hedge with nobody around after an ocuk meet, then someone stacked a Civic on another meet and closed the road off and ended up needing many emergencies vehicles! :D

People make mistakes but some do them beyond their control and needlessly and for "fun", last time I looked public roads = invented for travel, race tracks = invented for enjoyment.

This isn't about privacy, its about boy racers, people that cause RTC, people that go out commit crime via insurance fraud. I would have one in my car if it dropped my premiums by 20% of standard rates.

You are so dry, I cant tell if you are joking or being serious. I dont know how you do it on a forum. It is impressive.

What happens is, you have a device recording on to memory, it wont save it unless something happens, so driving alone for 25 minutes, nothing occurs, 26 minutes in something happens memory is recorded, basically like the old CCTV after 24 hours its gone for ever, but more advanced.

Devices can record all day, some cant. Depends on the money you have to spend.

It works like Sky Plus. If you pick a channel to watch it will automatically record it. That's how you can rewind the channel back for either 1 hours or until the time you changed channels even if you never pressed record.

The video is stored in a cache and will be dumped out after a set period of time. In the case of these cameras it may save any video for 1 minute and then purge it to save on storage space. If it feels a jolt then it stops deleting the cache and saves it out as a proper file to be viewed.

It means you record the things that you need to record without having hours and hours of footage to search through where nothing happened.

I imagine if it cut money off your premium a lot of people would get them fitted if it was cost effective to do so. There would be a certain bunch that never would for obvious reasons.
