Do you leave your PCI card backplates off?

I leave the side of my case off most of the time and have now started to leave all my unused PCI backplates off.

It probably doesn't warrant reasoning, I just wondered if anyone else does the same? :D

Have mine on, assuming that off would affect airflow i.e. (cool) intake fan air would blow straight out the other end

I see what your saying. In my case the more exhaust areas lower the case temps i.e. (cool) intake fan air would blow across lower half of mobo (my P5N-E southbridge produces far too much heat) and push it out instead of leaving hot air to circulate.

Well I tried having both on and off before. When I took the backplates off, the temp on my GPU is lower. But I put it on, fearing that dust gets in easier.

I leave all the PCI backplates off as well as the I/O Sheild thingy for the mobo....seems to make the system run a little bit cooler.

probably wont make too much difference unless you have an extraction fan blowing out of them as heat rises up to the top of the case.

Nope, but the antec 900's has slots in them anyway. The only way they get left off is if i cant be bothered to find the screw. (I have hundreds, but am terminally lazy).

I have my wireless card down a few slots so I can rest an 80mm fan on it blowing out the back :D

Works a treat aswell.
