Do you like curved monitors?

My current setup (well the computer died and I'm building a new system in another thread here).. but I have dual 27 inch 1080p monitors. One of them is 120hz.

After I pay off the parts I bought to build the new system I am thinking I want to upgrade my monitors. Should I stick with flat monitors or go with curved?

TL;DR - How are curved monitors when using dual or triple monitors and video editing? I've never owned curved monitors before, but I'm seeing a lot of them around these days. How do they look while watching say a TV show or watching from a distance (my bed)?

Things I do on my system:

Gaming on one monitor
Video ediing using multiple monitors using Adobe Premiere
Watching television/movies/web surfing

I'm definitely looking to go bigger.. 32" or 34". Probably 32" due to pricing. Probably 1440p. Probably 144hz. Maybe triple monitors. When I game I put the game on one monitor and website or something else on a second monitor. That won't change with triple monitors.. what it'll be really useful for is the video editing - putting tools on one screen, timeline on another screen, and my preview window on a third.

Anyway, I'm not looking for specific monitor recommendations.. I'll Google and find that out.

Just looking to see how are curved monitors when using dual or triple monitors and video editing or just doing stuff in general? I do graphic editing also, which I'll also be trying to learn more of Illustrator for converting raster to vector art. I'm really enjoying the 1800R curve on my ultrawide, the curve is not particularly noticeable but its just enough to add a little extra immersion without distorting any text

I like 2000R to 18000R curve on monitors from 34" and above and especially on UW. From 32" and below to about 27" I'd consider 1800R to 1500R for gaming but anything smaller and I don't think it's worth it.

I'd always go with larger curve numbers so 2000R to 18000R on any productivity monitor or even zero but for me very large flat screens need distance or they start to feel convex not concave.

I was using a flat 29" UW at work but felt it needed a small amount of curve so swapped it for a flat 24" UHD 16:9 instead.

The idea I don't like but I can't say I don't like them as I've never tried.

Not sure how I can rectify that without going into one of those 'shop' type places *shudders*

Did people generally check them out or just take a leap and pick one up?

I've seen them in stores. Looking at them on the shelf is not really good enough. I wish I knew someone locally who had one. Gaming is one thing, but what I'm curious is how photo editing and video editing is.

I think I may just go flat again.

Yeah it's difficult to imagine how photo/video editing would work. Not that it necessarily wouldn't but I think you'd really need to get hands on to tell.

I don't even notice the curve on my 34" with an 1800R anymore

Any lines going across the screen kinda look like horizon lines though and not straight

Loved my 35“ curved UW

Don’t think I would like it if was flat with sitting so close to it. The sides edges would be to far away with no curve

I spend much more time working on a PC than playing games. I love my 34' curved monitor for it.

However the ultra wide and the curve doesn't really suit gaming as much. Perhaps that's because most games I play aren't modern AAA titles optimised for it.

Before i got my 42 OLED i used a curved screen for 5 years

started off with the AW3418DW in 2017 with a 1900R curve and at first i hated it
made things look distorted and took a while to get used to it, and after i did i loved it

got a AW3821DW in late 2020 and that had a 2300R curve and for me that was perfect

now im back on large 42 flat screen i cant help but think it might actaully be better if it was slightly curved

With a flat screen, if you have an annoying reflection, a slight angle or tilt adjustment can resolve the problem.

If I adjust my curved ultrawide slightly, because it's curved it still shows the reflection on the display. So you either have to adjust the screen a lot, so none of the curved screen is catching the reflection becoming awkward to use, or black out the thing causing the reflection.

My next monitor will not be curved.
