Do you load your games from the actual disk?

Hey mates,
I recently tried to play a game from an image file I created using daemon tools. I was hoping to increase my load speeds by doing so but farcry 2 detects daemon tools and won't allow it. It is a legitimate copy that came with my gtx 285. Is this just the way things are or is there some fix for this I couldn't find web searching? Do any of you load your games from an image off of your hd and if so, what programs/fixes are you doing to make it work?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Modern games install completely to the hard disk, and only require the DVD in the drive for a piracy check on loading the game. Therefore, even if it did work, you wouldn't see any noticeable speed improvement as the disk is not accessed when playing the game.

Okay good to know. My dvd drive is old and a slow. I should probably just get a new one anyway but at least there's not point in trying to load games off of my hd now.

If any of my games check for the CD/DVD and keep doing so once it's fully updated I simply go and get a no-cd patch. Most however will bypass the CD/DVD check once they've been updated to later versions.

I don't do pirated games anymore, far too grown up for that garbage. I'd much rather have something that's supported and on Steam these days. No CD/DVD to install from and runs from the HDD and can be backed up :)
