I know some of you name your machines and some of you leave it at the default Username-PC
What are your own preferences for names? Roman gods? Norse mythology? just 'rig'?

My new rig is coming on wednesday and I was thinking of christening it Sleipnir, Odin's eight legged horse. I'm still not sure if I'll bother yet though

MY two rigs are called P183 and V351. One is in an Antec P183 case and the other is in a Lian-Li V351B case.

The machine I built for my mum is called Veris, as it is in an Antec Veris Case.

I have around 5 machines on one network, one being a server.
Therefore each machine is given a name so I know what's what when transfering files and remote desktoping them.

My main gaming rig is called Blackhawk, Netbook is called Uplink, Server is called Thunderbird and a render machine is called Nightshade.
I dunno, guess I like giving them interesting names which kind of correspond to the aesthetics and use of the machine.

Yep. my old gaming rig (now defunct & waiting new bits) was called WOPR after this Computer:

My eldest Nephew asked me if it had a name so I humoured him! :D :p

My everyday rig is named HTPC because that's what I intended to use it for, but I can't be arsed to use it as a media centre in the end so I just use it my everyday PC.

Fictional computers for me. Main rig is always Eddie, and others on my network are picked from names such as Deep Thought, Proteus, Femputer (the wife's usually), WOPR, SAL 9000 (HAL is too cliched :)), etc.

I'm a pretty sad geek, tbf... :)

gandalf for my main machine
undertv for the htpc
elhadrel for the mrs' laptop
froffice for my work machinw
bacs for the one handling bacs transfers
virtualdev for my virtual development environment

fair variance in sources!
