Do you need 2400hz memory with AMD APU processors?

Just trying to pick out some new parts for a media centre. looking at the AMD A8 and A10 CPU's with integrated IGP graphics.

the spec page for the A10 processor here says that 2400hz RAM is recommended for optimum performance from the graphics chip. is that the same for all of these CPU's with IGP? would you recommend getting 2400hz memory if considering one of those processors?

It's just to increase the bandwidth for the GPU as they benefit from it, but you're not gaming as far as I know, so cheapish RAM would be fine.

Any old DDR3 will do for video. 3D performance really benefits from higher speed RAM, gains seem to tail off after DDR3 2100

E: If you get an A10, do fire up some games. I am eternally surprised by the performance of these things

It is amazing how much difference that the ram had on the igp performance (while gaming)..

If you won't be gaming much/atall any DDR3 will do.. 1600 is obvoisly a sweet spot. :)

If your undecided on gaming or not you can get some Samsung greens. Keep them at 1600 for normal use then overc lock them (they can reach 2133 if not 2400) when you wanna game. :)

ok thanks guys. don't intend to use it for gaming but may future proof myself depending on the cost differences.

any suggestions please on 1600 and 2400 RAM (2x 4Gb)?
