Do you need a soundcard?

Im building a new rig soon and just wondering do u need to buy a sound card? im not too bothered about great sound, as long as i can hear gunshots in games and stuff im not too bothered. Do games require sound cards?

If your motherboard has onboard sound then no, though the sound quality is generally not as good as a dedicated sound card they're still pretty good quality these days.

The S3:

The DS3:

- Intel High Definition 8 Channels Audio

So no, you won't need to go buy a separate sound card if you get either of those.
