I have just built my first intel system, with a E8400 and a Abit IP-35 ( non pro version) and i think ive buggered the cpu cos I had to push down on the door thing quite hard to get it to close, Is that normal, Im use to the amds where You just drop the cpu in and push thhe lever down.

Basically it turns on but no dosplay??

when I turn it on the fans spin up for a few secs, and turns off then a few secs an turns on again and just keeps looping?? and ideas???

That what ive bought but the (non pro) board.. If I take out the 8pin power plug for the cpu it stays on but no dispay still??

I have two of the Abit boards, one is a regular IP-35 the other the pro.
I found the regular IP35 needed a Bios flash to work with the E8400 I have.
When I tried to run the E8400 with the older Bios it just kept rebooting at startup.
The Pro Bios was the latest so worked fine straight out the box.

As already stated, if a friend has an older C2D CPU see if you can borrow it for 10 mins to flash the bios.
I was lucky, as I also had an E2180 in my second machine.

So when you turn yours on the fans spin up for a few secs, and turns off then a few secs it turns on again and just keeps looping???

It looks like the board is being sent back, cos ive just noticed 3 of the 6 sata sockets has came off with the sata leads.. I was wondering where has all my sata sockets gone, then looked at the sata leads and there on there,,WTF

Yeh I will post some pics later on this afternoon and Ive manage to get a replacement board comming monday, but this time the pro version, cos ppl say the e8400 works out of the box with the pro version. I'll be gutted if it dont work out of the box tho.

Thats why I dont think I will get a refund, cos it looks like I pulled out the leads without pushing in the clip, but I can asure you I did. As I said the leads came out so easy, I didnt realise the sata sockets were missing untill I came to plug the leads back in.

Ok guys, my abit ip35 pro has just arrived, all fingers and toes crossed that the E8400 cpu will work in this...... Im about 80% sure it will, cos other ppl has had there E8400 working straight out of the box:eek:

any news?

Build my system and it worked first time with everything in place(cards, mem, drives). Temps r a tad crazy, in the bios its 127c and in windows its 45c. When I stress the cpu using prime95 only 1 of the cores gets 2c hotter 47c, so thats wrong I know. I tried the cpu at 3.6ghz but windows wont boot, so its on 3.4 atm, and its doing 13secs in superpi at 3.4.

Wheres the beta bios version for the abit ip35 pro??, cos I can only see version 14, and im pretty sure I have 14 already

Just found the beta but its in a diff lang,, Is it best to wait for the proper version to come out, cos my sys is going really well accept for the temp prob, not had a single crash yet, and everything has gone to dam smooth for my likeing..lol

The board was rejected as I thought it was going to be. Anyway got the board back today, strightend all the pins then super glued the caps back on.

Ive put the super glue on the 2 metal bits that holds the caps on, but ive manage to get a tiny bit onto the blue Circuits. Should still be ok shouldnt it???
