Do you observe anti static precautions when building?

If I'm just dipping in for a graphics card or something I'll touch a radiator then the case.

But if I'm doing a build I'll use a wrist strap (although I tend to attach it to my ankle so it doesn't get in the way :p) attached to a radiator to be on the safe side.

I tend to wear a strap when doing anything like fitting memory/video card.
Full mat and strap when dealing with motherboards/builds.

Either strap or occasional touching of the psu/bare metal of the case when doing HDD's

I wear a wrist strap, it's just safer and they're not exactly expensive to buy. Better to get one, as I cant afford to deal with replacements, money-wise and time-wise. Better safe than sorry.

I touch the radiator before starting and that's it.

I've built my latest pc on carpet and had no problems.
My old socket 939 rig I built on the carpet of my bedroom floor back in 2005. Five years later it's still alive and overclocked :D.

Though I dread to think how much I spent on it back then... 2.4GHz dual-core, 4GB RAM, 7800GTX  :(. Only faults that machine ever had were a DVD-RW failing and Creative's drivers for the X-FI being ****.

just touch the radiator with a bit of bareskin every now and again, no need for beeing a woman with all these straps and mats.

touching the psu doesnt do anything unless its plugged in anyway? because it wont be grounded?

I've never worn a strap, and only ever bother with the radiator if I'm doing something more than fan adjustment.
Even then, I'll walk over to the radiator and back again over carpet with my socks on.
I've probably built somewhere in the region of 10 PCs using the same method and am yet to have any kind of a problem - consumer devices tend to be rather more resilient than a lot of people give them credit for!

The PSU tends to be the first thing in, plug that into the mains (switched off at the wall) and the whole case should be earthed (depending on case obviously). Never had any problems.

Nope.

Never made a distinct effort to earth myself in any fashion and have built 100s of systems, desktops to enterprise servers. Never had an issue really.
