I've just been having a debate with the neighbour about the price of newspapers per week. They seem to be getting more expensive.

I found a webpage that shows all the prices of UK newspapers here;

http://jackiesnews.co.uk/newspaper-prices/

We're thinking of cutting down on them. But I'm wondering how many people here buy a newspaper? Do you get them every day, weekday and/or weekends?

I'm asking also because there was a thread a while back about magazines and who still buys magazines. I was in the minority in still buying one (though I don't these days).

It's really interesting to read the replies (and the poll, thanks Mods).

I used to buy the local newspaper regularly and read it from cover to cover. Then it went out of business, and now its online - though the website is full of adverts.

Imagine paying £20 a week for the Guardian

I noticed that too. I was surprised. How many working class people can afford to pay £20 a week for the Guardian!?

Speaking of Page 3...

I was dating this American woman, about 20 years ago, and I was flying out to see her family. Her grandfather was interested in seeing what was in our newspapers. So I took him over a selection of them, some had the Page 3 photo. I hadn't thought anything of it as Page 3 was just a normal part of the newspaper.

Before I handed them over the ex checked them and saw the Page 3 and said "you can't show porn to my grandfather!". It reminded me how more conservative American society is when it comes to sexual matters. I did hand them to him and he didn't comment on the Page 3. Maybe she removed that page? :confused:
