Off-line single player or on-line multiplayer games?

I've not really played too many multiplayer games in the past but I'm finding L4D pretty good. However, playing the game on line has realised that my reactions as a gamer aren't that good as I thought they were.

What do you think?

The only problem I have found online, when starting L4D for example, is that people have no patience with you when you are just starting out. I've been kicked off quite a few Vs and Survivor games in L4D for little or no reason really. The campaigns are better though as you tend to stick together but there is always someone that knows everything and is better than everyone else. This put me off TF2. That said, it was good the other night playing with a few fellow OcUK members who had the time for me
