I'm slowly upgrading my computer and after the fiasco with having to compromise on graphics card I'm not going to bother with that again for a bit and put focus in to saving for a CPU upgrade.

Now nothing wrong with the 4th gen i3 processors for what they offer, but obviously games will get more demanding as quads are more required.

So with that said, something like a i5 4440 should be good enough for gta 5, f1 15 and other quad required games without the need of Over clocking shouldn't it?

I believe its at the lower end of the i-5 range but look at it this way in 3 years time your i-5 will perform well but most people upgrade there gpu.

So you wont have to upgrade both gpu and cpu as games become more demanding.

not really overclocked my 3770k, but I got one for the potential of doing so + it wasnt too much more than the non-k, in fact sometimes they are the cheaper due to sales

On the other hand, there are some games that will eat as many CPU cycles as you can throw at them. For example...
- Cities Skylines
- Kerbal Space Program
- Modded Minecraft
- World of Warcraft
...are all massively CPU dependant. I personally wouldn't want to play Skylines on anything less than an overclocked quad.

So basically it depends on your gaming preferences :)

Have my 5820k @ 4.1Ghz 1.21v even though it does 4.6Ghz at 1.325v (24hr latest prime/aida etc.. stable, its a weird chip, overclocks like hell but 4.1 needs all that to be stable) but went for quiet over speed and with my NHD-15 i never break 73C under prime small fft and i don't see a difference tbh.
