I just noticed on a jar of peanut butter I have that it says once opened refrigerate. I have never put peanut butter in the fridge... Like ever, neither did my parents and most of my friends don't. It's always just been kept in the cupboard.

Maybe we can get a poll ? :D

A) yes of course are you crazy ?!
B) no who the hell puts it in the fridge
C) blargh you eat peanut butter
D) don't know, don't care.... Wife takes care of that.

No, hhell no, damn no. Wierdos.

Every single thing has once open refrigerate, due to coverying thier back. Should be ignored like all the other stupid advice.

No who the hell puts it in the fridge?

Also it should be SMOOTH peanut butter, crunchy can go and eat a bag of phallus's. Its called butter for a reason, its buttery smooth. Not jagged and lumpy like a teenagers acne ridden face.

I wonder the same for the mayo and bbq sauce and eggs. If its not sold in a fridge, why do i put it in the fridge? It doesn't say on the bottle, keep at fridge temps etc. It last 3 weeks whether its in the fridge or not.

But i still put it in the fridge.

its hard enough spreading a decent dolup of crunchy peanut butter without tearing the bread apart when its warm, Let alone when its chilled to 5 degrees and locked solid.

mmmmmmmmmmmmm peanut butter sandwiches.

There are tons of things that don't require refrigeration until after they are opened. You shouldn't assume that everything that is sold sealed but unrefrigerated does not require refrigeration ever.

edit: I actually read your post incorrectly. Sorry, yo.

OP, does a bear **** in the woods? :-)

Cupboard - salad cream, ketchup, pickle, seasoning, olive/cooking oil, mustard, vinegar, eggs, orange squash, jam, marmalade, dry stuff like Ryvita, cereals etc, treacle, maple syrup, choc spread, and yes.. PEANUT BUTTER goddammit!

As for mayo versus salad cream, I know that mayo has a shorter shelf life once opened, so that stays in the fridge, while salad cream stays in the cupboard.

And for the record, ketchup stays in the cupboard, before anyone derails the thread :p

In the cupboard where it belongs. Just checked the jar I have and it says once opened to store it in a cool dry place, do not refrigerate.
