Do you shake hands at work?

I used to do some work with a French firm and whenever colleagues from France were over they would do this all the time. Every morning you had to shake their hand and wish them a good morning. It was most odd but harmless.

Personally I shake hands when being introduced to someone the first time or if has been a while (1 month + ) since I've seen someone.

shaking hands a lot is the perfect way to spread swing-flu as well!

you better hope no one at work gets it as you will all have it by the end of the day!

Damn where do you lot work? In places where there is nothing but hate?

No... I don't shake hands with friends and family every time I meet them either, it's just weird.

whats wrong with shaking hands? o.O

Nothing, when you're meeting someone for the first time or someone you haven't seen in a long time.

Honey catches more flies than vinegar. :)

But then you have flies in your honey and nobody wants that ;)

Although, shaking hand with 50 people every morning/evening must waste 15 minutes... you might be onto something.

Yep, thats very unusual.

There is a bloke at work who stands behind you and gives you a massage. I reckon he's doing it to freak you out a little bit, and it does seem to have that effect on most people.

I let him get on with it, and made various appreciative noises over the space of 5 minutes or so. Oddly, he ain't been back :)

I shook hands with collegues when I met them for the first time and also when a colleague is leaving or something. I see it as a bit strange doing it every day tbh. A simple hi and cya is enough for me.

What happens if you're at the back of a large office and you have to pass loads of people do you have to shake all their hands on the way past lol. Would be time consuming :p

Nobody shakes my hand, it’s a polite “hi” in the morning and “see ya” at the end of the day.

People that I work with everyday...it would feel uneccessary and 'over the top' if we shook hands at the end of shift / working day.

These are people we spend 40 hours a week with. I'm not condoning homosexuality but you might as well attempt to get on with these people.

Getting on with them is fine, I go out with people from work for beers once a week, get on like a house on fire with the majority of people I work with... we'll spend evening in the pub and get leathered at times...

I don't go into the office and shake hands with people... that's just weird.

If I'm introduced to a client, or if it's someone I haven't seen in a very long time I'll shake their hands. I won't go in tomorrow and shake the guys hand that sits opposite me to say "morning"
