Do you still play WoW?

I have an on/off relationship with this game where sometimes i just completely go cold and dont play it for months, uninstall etc etc and then when it gets cold, i feel like ganking my old playground @ South Shore and ganking a few Auctioneers in Stormwind. Anyone still play/not play who can perhaps quash this fleeting desire before i get enthralled in it again?

I stopped playing it a year ago. Basically figured its a massive time sink and the game is so simple now a chimp could play it.

I quit for the reason everyone now uses, Expansions completely ruined the experience if you played from the beginning.

The PvP is far too complicated and it's not even tactical anymore, the PvE has become stale after doing the same raid every week over and over and you end up jumping around the bank roof in Orgrimmar checking the auction house every 5 minutes.

Their are now far far better MMO's out there, I'm waiting until I pass my driving until I go back to the MMO scene though.

Came back once since BC came out and twice since WOTLK, not planning on playing again until Cata hits the shelves as I get bored once I hit the max levels and get semi decent gear.

Yup. Play it for the social aspect. Once you've stuck with a guild and weeded out the gits you end up with some good friends.

I quit a while ago, but still miss it at times. I can only play a cuiople of hours a day at best now so it felt pointless as I'd never get decent enough gear to feel like it was worth playing.

Something like MW2 mp is good for that though, you can unlock loads of things by playing 5mins here and there.

I miss playing the AH and seems a shame my chars are going to waste.

Stopped playing about a month ago. I finally had enough of playing with people who seemed incapable of making any progress on LK hc 25man after being 11/12 hc for a few months.

I doubt I'll return to the game any time soon.

quit a while ago, no regrets as the game is just getting thinner and thinner.
one of the main reasons i logged on was tot alk with guildies/friends, but guild broke up and people splintered everywhere. its just not the same game for me anymore, ontop of the PVE side of things becoming a joke and pvp is a similar story.
plus ive been incubating a real hatred for kotick/activision's effect on the game :p

I quit a couple of years ago, I still thought at the time that the game itself was decent, but the people playing.... oh god the people playing. It had become like either every person playing was 11 years old or that by logging on your maturity and intellect levels dropped to 11 year old. Between the constant swearing and bickering to be "tough" , the drama , whining and overall childishness I just couldn't tolerate the community any more.

I cant understand why people feel attached or obligated to their guilds.

I dont play games for anyone else, I play for my own amusement.

You answered your own question there.

Played for a while, hit 80, a far more enjoyable experience now they minimalised the grind. Stopped to try out DF will go back for cata. Theres so many mmos out there its worth trying em all.

It's not for the guild;s sake, its because we enjoy being a part of a larger machine. That's most of the fun, interacting with others, having a laugh over vent, meeting up at weekends.

That kinda fun lasts so much longer than replacing your items every 12 months.

Same.

No problem with sinking time into games but when it's no fun and the general community is at best maddeningly frustrating I had to go.

Glad I did, though I will always have fond memories of pre-wotlk wow and the good times I did have.
