Do you think England will win the World Cup?

I know we've not been playing at our best, but for some reason I think that we're going to do very well in the next few games. I'm sure we're gonna beat Portugal in the quarters, then its likely we'll be up against Brazil in the semi's. If we manage to beat Brazil, I think it'll give us the mindset that we are the best team in the world and possibly go on and face Germany in the final.

What a final that would be!

COME ON ENGLAND!

Yes.

As this time round it seems the majority of England fans don't think they will so they'll end up scraping through to the final and win 3-0, just to really annoy everyone who doubted them.

Also that Sven is leaving so that'll be even funnier on the FA/anti-Sven media. :o

I reckon if we pull our finger out of our backsides vs Portugal then yes. Its quite funny that despite playing so poorly we're still in the quarters. If we have a good game we're gonna thrash the opposing team.

they need to step up a gear bigtime. On paper we are capable of doing it but based on the displays I have seen we have no chance if we get to the final against Argentina

They play too much as individuals not as a team which is crucial at this level. The Argentinians have been the best 'team' team that I have seen so far and it will be tough to turn them over. The Brazilians have flattered to decieve but I reckon we can take them in the semis if we get past portugal.

The Portuguese are without a few players so we have a decent chance but who knows what mystic sven has in store on Saturday.

I think its possible. Every match I expect it to click and for us to be dominant. We've not done that so far but I've never doubted we'd do it eventually. I don't like the thought of Portugal, but that's less because of them as a team, more of Scolari managing them.

It's clear we need luck the way we're playing so it needs to go up a notch now. We'll never have a better chance to get revenge than against a side half on yellows and potentially 4 top players absent.

I very much doubt it.

Usually teams who start out bad you get to see a steady improvement in form and confidence. Im not seeing that from England. Tactics and seletions are wrong. Frank Lampard may go down in History as having the most shots ever at the world cup without scoring but he's not bringing much else to the party at the moment. If we are playing five in midfield they ALL have to be at the top of their game to compensate for the fact that we only have one up front. Looked better with Carrick in Midfield.

If things are going good, bad or indifferent we end up stiking Lennon and/or downing on with 10 mins to go. We are predictable and the opposition now how to defend against it

England has made it this far purely on the fact they have one of the strongest squads in the competition. Their actual team performance has been hellish, much worse than 4 years ago.

They have 2 or 3 players that can turn a game no matter how bad they're playing, so if they ride their luck they could make the semis, anything can happen after that.

If they did win they would be the poorest team to win a major trophy since Greece 2 years ago, imnsho of course.

Frank Lampard and Owen Hargreaves need to be dropped. Seriously have doubts that England will beat Portugal otherwise.
Line-up for the Quarter final match should be::

----------------Robinson-----------------

Carragher---- Ferdinand----Terry------Cole

-----------------Carrick------------------

-------Lennon---Gerrard-----Beckham-----

------------Crouch---Rooney-------------

But better on the day than the others, since we'd be the winners?
Impossible to say, so many factors can affect the outcome of a match that sometimes the best team loses.

When a team is playing badly they have to win at all costs, that usually means playing ugly football and riding their luck. England are doing both and if they keep doing it (or, alternatively, start playing as well as they should be) they could go far.
