Do you think i'm stupid

I'm asking only out of curiousity...but from what I recall, multi-GPU would tend to need 10fps above the frame rate of the single GPU card in order to deliver same smoothness...?

For example, Crossfire would need 40fps in order to deliver same smoothness as a single GPU at 30fps because of the need to compensate for micro-stuttering...?

You need about 5-25% more fps with multi GPU's or you need to enable V sync or be CPU limited where micro stutter no longer has a significant affect.

Pity the 6870 is £20-£25 more than it should be. The 470 is faster and cheaper and I cant understand Amd pricing on this, unless its price gouging.

TBH, it's more like I can't understand Nvidia pricing, their prices atm are extremely aggressive and offer really good value at the moment.
I think Nvidia is looking to clear 470 stocks so it can release the 570 & 565 etc...

I thought the whole point of the stickyed thread was that if you think someone is trolling- dont feed them!

I accept there might be some debate but calling fanboy and troll is against forum rules now regardless of right or wrong?

If you see someone who is causing problems, please do not respond to them in any way
We ask you to instead simply report their post by using the Report Post button located under their user name / avatar.

In response to op, if your 5770s are doing the job, sit on it until it isnt, the 580 will get cheaper, and there may be better suited offerings (although I m not sure abour faster SINGLE cards) soon anyhow- even 580s with after market coolers pre fitted. If your current cards are too slow and you can afford the 580- go for it!

470 sli will produce a lot of heat noise and use loads of power. The 470 is soon to be end of line hence the cheap cards and word on the street is that 560's and 570' will hit in abundance

I think the 470's in SLI would be an excellent choice at their current price as it will offer the ability to run games with upto 64xAA, TRSAA, Physx, excellent handling of DX11 . 470's also clock to 480 speeds with ease and slightly higher.

Its not all about heat and power, performance and features also play a massive part in peoples choices. If heat and noise are a concern then the 470 SOC is a good option as it runs very quiet due to the excellent cooler, but these cost a fair bit more than a stock gtx470. :)

so true, so true:D

I would wait for Cayman personally.
If that is over budget I would take Easyrider's advice and CF two 6870's.

And about Stulid, Ive not ventured in here often, but I wouldn't call him a fanboi, half the specs he produces in GH features ATi gpu's!
