do you think this looks safe to use

I use it all the time mate & an absolute doddle to use , I do advise though that you do some research on recovering from a bad flash (there's a joke in there somewhere;) ) just I case you get carried away. My current pair of cards a 8800 320GTS & a GTX I must have flashed their bios's 20+ times for experimental purposes without a hitch :).

Yes you can mate but I've never played around with them on the 8800's I have so can't confirm if it works via bios only tweaks . Only things I've tinkered with are core / memory /shader clocks & mem timimgs:).

You can have a play & see what options you get with your card, Just grab the latest NVflash & make a backup of your current bios & load it into NiBiTor & see what options it'll allow you to play with, then if you get brave flash it:D , do remember though to KEEP A SAFE COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL BIOS .

Contrary to Mashy, I'm 99% sure you can't change voltages without a pencil or voltmod.

Good guide here.

Usually depends on what components (eg: memory) have been used.

This shouldn't matter with the 8 series cards as they are all made for Nvidia by a company called Flextronics. They make all the 680i motherboards aswell!

Basically they are Nvidia's OEM manufacturer so all companies like BFG, XFX, Gainward etc do is by the cards, stick their own stickers and HSF on and put them in a posh box.

As long as your cards specs follow the reference design, then manufacturer's BIOS shouldn't matter.

The only exception to this is Overclocked cards which will have been tested by the board partner (e.g. Gainward, XFX, BFG)

:)
