I have never brought my own water bottle on a flight, short or long haul for many reasons
1 - I have to carry it around the world
2 - It needs to be empty before security
3 - I don't know if there is a water fountain at the side of security
4 - There is free water on the plane
5 - Since I started getting lounge access, I don't even need to buy drinks at the airport.
