Do you turn off Mobile data when indoors?

In fairness, OP said he'd automated it.

I don't have that problem, because I have no credit, and can only use my phone on WiFi anyhow...

PAYG sucks so much these days. I used to be able to top up £15 twice a year. Now that £15 is gone in random data charges after a few weeks. I don't make any freaking calls.

Sounds just like my sister, 41 years old and can't phone anyone or use the internet because she never has any credit.

You can get contracts with 4 or 5 GB of data a month for less than a fiver a month, not a lot more than your old £30 a year top ups.

Don't see the need, battery life is good enough and only time I do turn things off is when I'm hiking, GPS signal alone is good enough for likes of Alltrails etc

Nope, I'm sort of the opposite, I usually turn Wi-Fi off when I get home unless I want to stream music from my phone. 5G in my house is 10x quicker than my broadband...

I’m looking into it, but I want the stability, latency and cleanliness of my broadband for gaming and work use and the 5G connection for pure speed.

So I presume 5G isn't that good for Gamers?

I'm only asking but recently I've helped people go on 5G broadband but none are 'serious' Gamers.
My Brother in Law does have is grandkids around and they both play online with their XBOXs.

Put it this way, when I’ve done tests the results are so incredibly variable on jitter, latency, packet loss and speed. Changes with local mast load, network load, weather and 5G was out for 4 days a couple of weeks ago for maintenance and not the first time.

I’ve had pings in games vary too much for it to be dependable. Lag spikes can just ruin it. A lot of the time it’s fine but every now and then it just throws a wobbly.

I turn wifi off when I leave the house to stop my phone connecting to my car :)

Since my new contract I have 5g and a decent amount of data, so a lot of the time no, just purely because I forget or it doesn't matter.

Presumably it will largely depend on the reception inside your house and data allowance. The reception was rubbish on Vodafone on my last contract so I changed to WiFi in the house. Now I'm on the 3 network I get almost full bars of 5g everywhere in the house.

Having a discussion with the wife, & apparently im weird for turning off mobile data when indoors, it seems quite a few in my tech field do.
Do you turn off mobile data when indioors?
be an interesting poll for sure

of course because of this the UK emergency alert was pointless
Reason i do this is its a waste of battery even with WIFI ON/ Network it still is cycling & wasting battery cycles

i have automation for
inside
BT off
WIFI ON
Mobile data OFF

Outside
BT ON
WIFI OFF
Mobile data ON

There are more important things in life to worry about

I have the below option off. Means that whenever im on wifi, mobile data is turned off. I still got the government notice. Only negative is it takes a few seconds to connect to a data service when coming off wifi, but it's so quick I don't even realise its slower than fast network switching.

"Once you’re on the Developer options screen, scroll down to the Networking group of settings, and turn the ‘Mobile data always active’ option off."

Yes, data is only enabled when I leave home / work. I also disable WiFi, otherwise it's constantly scanning which isn't a great use of battery.

Remembering the happy days of some people complaining bitterly that there was no quick way to turn off mobile data, Bluetooth, wifi, in iOS control panel when the vast majority of people set and forget
