Hi I was wondering if you use a DNS instead of the ISP DNS ?
Ive been thinking if I should start using a DNS instead

I was wondering if it had any benefits like more privacy, slight speed increases, ad blocking and more ?

also what are the downsides ?

Could someone recommend a good DNS you would use.

Is this a homework question? Sounds like it.

Depends which DNS provider you go with. There is no right or wrong answer.
They all provide different services. Some speed, some security, some blocking.
Yes you could consider it home work.

Which DNS ? That could be something someone could suggest, I was looking at the cloudflare DNS before but Ive really looked into anything. I was looking to get more information and to see if its something worth considering.

There's thousands of providers!

Google "top 10 dns providers". You will have your answer.

Its not for School.
Originally I started wondering about DNS when I came across a adgaurd YouTube video about blocking ads with DNS and I started wondering what other benefits a DNS could offer and thought using a DNS must have some down sides.

There's none that I can think of. Your ISP DNS will be fine. But another DNS provider such as Cloudflare, is generally quicker, more privacy focussed, has no blocking and can be used for ad blocking or adult content blocking I believe too.

but do they also block ads I cant find the information on the website ?
No, it focuses on privacy. I run my own Adguard Home server which blocks ads and tracking, Quad9 is the uplink DNS server which covers more of the privacy stuff.

Thanks ill take a look at the link, what about the privacy side on adgured ?
You aren't "sharing all your info".

Anyway, here's the link: https://pi-hole.net/
Thanks, the issue is i dont have a Pi and I only use windows.
So I though I could change the router DNS and get similar results.
