Just wondered how many people use a UPS for home use? and where do you draw the line and think yeah I should really get one? and what do you have?

the comms cab is starting to build up, switch/microserver/router/pi/av booster
so just debating if should get one.

thanks

Have been using UPSes for 17 years.
Got ****** off one weekend with couple dozen power cuts from few seconds to minute or two.
Many times thought them over to have next one just when PC had booted to Windows.

Currently using Eaton 5P 1550i.
It's just network/server grade UPS with associated cooling so had to mod it to use 80mm fan externally in 80-60 mm adapter.

I've got a rack chassis with NAS and some other backup and network stuff with a UPS but currently most of my PCs and router just have surge protection and nothing else.

Needs a lot more high end equipment to deal with potential localised lightning strikes anyhow even though decent surge suppression stuff will give you moderate protection its far from a grantee the UPS is to reduce the potential for data corruption on the NAS in the event of a power cut, etc.

I've been using APC Back-UPS BX 700 and 1400 units but the one I was using for my main PC the battery needs replacing and I've been lazy about doing anything about it partly because I tend to use my laptop or tablets quite a lot now instead of relying as much on the main PC.
