do you use ide or sata for the cdrom?

just building my shuttle, i brought cd/dvd rom (sata) thinking it would all be sata, however the i only have one sata cable in the shuttle... can i just buy a sata cable and run it off the second sart port on the mobo?

Thats what i did with my kids...

bit peeded off that they don't give you a 2nd sata cable, as most people buying a new computer system you would proberly like me buy a sata cdrom

grabbed a sata cable in town and all is well, using ide must clog up the air flow, glad i have the cables all neat and tidy using the sata (think i have a ocd)

As for the question, well, in a Shuttle where space is a premium i'd really recommend running all the drives off SATA.
