Hey all,

I've been looking into the possibility of maybe using iTunes Match in the future, and I was wondering...

Do you use iTunes Match? And if so, what are your thoughts on the service?

Many thanks :D

I do, but I'm not convinced at all yet.

I switched it on, which took a few days and many failed attempts (not on my part, just the matching failed and needed restarting), and having nothing on my iPhone was a pain. So I switched it off, synced, and switched it on, to get my stuff back - but probably 25% of my albums have varying amounts of songs missing, and I can't work out why, and I mostly listen to my music when I'm outside of wifi so I can't fill the gaps, then I forget when I get home.

It's quite a lot of faff, and I'm not really sure how good it is yet. There's basically nothing in the way of instructions because it's supposed to just work on its own, so...

Yeah, not convinced yet! I keep meaning to sort it all out but to be honest.. I might just switch it off.

I have had iTunes match for about 2 months now and it works perfect for me.

It had about 3000 songs to upload when I 1st got it but that's fine with me as I have a
good connection, signed into iTunes Match on my iPhone and it worked fine for me no
problem at all, I even tried downloading a song on the PC and when it downloaded picked
my phone up and it was on there already vis versa as well.

I like the service no need for syncing and all that jazz works fine for me.

Match works brilliantly for me. Matched about 8000 of my 10000 songs. Have been waiting for years for a solution where I can put my music on one computer and have it available everywhere else.

It means, amongst other things, that I can have my music at work, but also in the car by streaming to my phone.

Music that hasn't been downloaded - Can you just hit play and have it stream? Or do you have to download it first?

For example, if I have all my music on my main computer, can I just stream the music from iCloud on my iPhone so the music doesn't take up all my iPhone space.

On the ATV it will just stream the music.
On the iPhone and iPad it will stream it but also then download it in the background, if you need to make space available for other stuff just change your settings to only show music on the actual phone and then delete it.

Subscribed just before Christmas and it's made me buy an iPhone.... Tried Google Music on my Nexus and just couldn't get away with it, mainly because it has to upload everything and that's a pain for nearly 20,000 songs!

It matched around 16,000 of my tracks and uploaded the rest over a few days without too much hassle. Very happy overall with the service and it's the main reason I switched to iPhone, as I love my music and that's more important than anything else for me.

The only gotcha I've had so far is the fact that in some cases, it's replaced my very sweary versions of songs with versions that Tipper Gore would approve of.... it's not been consistent either; the album Darkest Days by Stabbing Westward has been "cleaned up" during the matching process, but none of The Downard Spiral by NiN has! They're apparently looking at these kind of issues, but it's an annoyance for me, rather than a show stopper. It kept the sweary version of Killing In The Name as well, so it's not a case of Apple going all puritan on us....

Would be great if I could use it on my 1MB connection instead of my iPhone's 3G lol

My PC doesn't seem to like it or Windows Update lol
