Do you work your proper hours?

Contracted hours are 8.45 - 5.15. Usually arrive 15-20 mins early and leave 15 mins late and work part my lunch if I'm not going out. Sometimes work later if there's a deadline I need to meet. No extra pay for overtime.

With IBM I was on 37.5 hours per week, flexi time.

Our department was very lax, we did not have to pre-book our hours, and we weren't even monitored. If you were around when you were needed and you got your work done, that was all that mattered. However, at times this meant a fair bit of free overtime, at other times, we were in the pub Friday lunchtime and then off home. If we did any mad overtime, like staying till 11pm, or giving up a saturday/sunday, we claimed our 1.5, 1.75, or 2x for that.

I suppose it depends on the employer

I think that's a bit short-sighted

I think I didnt really put it across right, I simply meant in the experience of my line of work and industry :) I fully understand that for many jobs this wouldnt be the case.

i'm on 35 hours a week, but i've usually done 35 by mid morning on thursday if not earlier. No overtime, but i expect a decent bonus.

i'd rather our working culture was more open and said you will work 55 -60 hour weeks, rather than this unoffical culture of it.

Contracted hours are 35hrs a week. But I work an average of 45-50hrs a week. The overtime pays the bills and extras..

The overtime is paid at a very good rate. I see every hour of overtime is a new spanky Blu-ray or money towards Sennheiser HD800s so it works fine for me :)
