DOA graphic card? ?

Hello again OcUK peeps!!

I recieved my new order today from OcUK (big thanks to DPD!). I put everything together and its all seems fine, well fine that is apart from i get NO graphics output the fans spin fine (not at 100% or anything) but the fan on the GFX card doesnt spin! Ok i thought maybe just a power thing, nope it doesn'i work in another PC

Someone please tell me im missing a trick, i dont need both 6-pin power plugs in ? spec is below

checked if the card is seated properly?

nothing shorting on card?

Youll need to plug in the 2 6pin pcie power cables.

so BOTH 6 pin PSU cables need to be plugged in? If I ran this on my old PSU it only has the adapter for 2x molex to one 6 pin psu lead?

Have you tried RTFM* for the GPU?

[reading the ******* manual ]

Should clear it up. It'll probably be in the quick start guide [most GPUs have this] or on the CD.

Fully star out any swearing

Power Requirements:
Non-SLI: 630W Minimum Power Supply
SLI: 680W Minimum Power Supply
Two 6-Pin Power Connector

'Nuff said.

Your new ocz psu is supplied with 1 6 pin pcie plug and another 8 pin pcie plug, 2 pins on this 8 pin plug are detachable, as the 8 pin config is used on higher end cards such as the gtx 280, detach the 2 pins and then plug in the 2 6 pin plugs to the card.

Yep read the manual (it has generic instructions) and it should only need one 6 pin from what i can read, (and as i thought)

But the fan doesnt spin and there is no output, so looks like this one is going back to OcUK.

Yes I know it looks pretty silly postin about getting a GFX card workin, i simply wanted a few opinions incase i had missed a trick!

All working fine now i take it, your not the first one to forget the second plug, ive done it quite a few times on my 280 gtx, as im so used to cards that only required one power connector

You have both six pin adapters with the PSU - have you actually tried both of them in the card to see if the problem recurs?

On scale, putting an 'extra' six pin adapter on the GPU costs them hundreds of quid per thousand units produced - they don't do it for laughs.

i had this when i upgraded my cards, one of the pci-e power cables on the second card wasn't fully seated properly so i thought the card was dead, but did build the system about 1 in the morning but it's an easy mistake to make, just check the power cables and that the card is sitting in the slot properly

If the card has 2 power inputs then obviously it will require both of them to be used!!!!

Yeah, not being harsh, but holes are meant to be filled
