you can unlock tengue by completing time trial in 1 round with all characters, and also unlock the gold/silver and bronze prizes

the only time you need to do 2 rounds on time trial is to unlock the costumes.
 
OK if you sure about that, I'll change it to 1 round as it'll save some time at least :)

Do the special characters have 7 costumes like the others?

im sure, thats how i got the awards and unlocked tengu

i think spartan has 6 or 7, the others only have 3 or 4 i posted a list in RichR5's thread "DOA4 Costumes"
