Ok, i'm a numpty, and really peed off with myself :(

I've just managed to reverse into someone in a car park, they were parked and i wasn't. The real kicker is its my gf (or soon to be ex)'s car.

Now i'm named on her insurance, but i also have DOC on mine, the damage to her car is minimal and should t-cut out mostly, but the damage to the other car (a mazda 6) looks a bit worse, with the front bumper riding up into the bodeywork a bit :(

If the people want to go through insurance (i've asked to do otherwise if we can) i'd prefer to go through my DOC so its not a mark against my gf's insurance - do i have the choise and will i have to pay an excess, i have a volentary £250 but does this apply to 3rd partys?

Cheers,
A very gutted and annoyed with himself Sam

You'll have to use her insurance.

Terms of all policies state that if the car is more specifically insured elsewhere - the DOC doesn't apply.

XS only applies to your own damage, never Third Party Damage.

No exess for third party, only if you claim for damage on your own car so your ok. I reversed into a gate too the other week, first accident/bump in 4 years of driving and I happened to be in my new car. I know how it feels :(

as you are named on the policy, i think you have to claim against that policy, rather than use the DOC from your own car.

This is because the DOC will not cover you on a car you can already drive. (As it would be insured twice)

:(

yer, just found it in the exceptions of my policy :( balls

the claim against her policy will kill her no-claims i assume, will that come into effect now or when she renews?

going to have to ring her in a min, doesn't help that the car park was a garage where i'd just found out she needs two new wheels, and that it looks like they were damanaged by a different garage she took it into a service at!

Whatever NCB she has now will be reduced by 2 years at next renewal after the accident.

If it makes you feel any better, I reversed into a bright yellow skip once :p. Granted it was dark and the windows were steamed up but I'd seen the skip on the way in so I knew it was there!

Back OT though, I'd really push for settlement outside of insurance. It doesn't seem worth your GF losing her no claims if it can be avoided.

Bah, come back once you've reversed into your own security post three times.

Then you'll have something proper to boast about. :p

Thats what i'm hopeing for, fingers crossed they don't get a silly quote for the repairs!

Just talked to the misses and shes being surpiseingly cool about it, turns out her ncb is protected, but the threat of annother accident (had too hit and runs in 03 that count against her - go figure) isn't good :(

nuts - the ladys now claiming that she has two "bolt holes" in the bonnet of the car, shoulda taken photos of the damn thing, but there are a no sodding bolts sticking out of the bumper on a celica (new shape one - grrrrr)

And to top it all off theres reason i was in their in the first place - it seems that while replacing the front disks, kwik fit in basingstoke (which my gf seems to like for some reason) managed to severly dent the front two alloys :( and now their claming that it wasn't them - it was in toyota for a full service the morning befor, drove fine to them, then started shaking about afterwards damn it!
