This situation is driving me mad, here is the scenario:
I need to make sure I'm grabbing as many of their files as i can, it was suggested that i write a batch file to do it, walk around each machine and put it on a sheduled task.....username and password expiry is a pain in the bum though, I want to avoid setting up a global account to run this scheduled task too.
I was thinking of moving the location of the desktop My Documents folders to their network drives solving one huge backup issue. The second step is the laptops, what about moving the My Documents location onto the network drive but then making that folder available offline? Syncing when available?
Has anyone resolved this problem before it must be pretty widespread!
- Users generally save documents to their desktop or My Documents area
- We currently have no group policy set up, but will have in 6 months time... (i've just started don't blame me!!!)
- Machines range from laptops to desktops
