Documnet Veiwer error 1706

When ever i look in folders etc, i get a pop up that says

please wait while windows configures document viewer.

then it says

the feature you are trying to use is on a network resouse that is unavailbe.
click ok to try again or enter another patch to the folder containing "documentveiwer.msi"


how can i fix this?

it could be all sorts of things.

using google, I found many results and plenty information to search through.

The 2 minutes I spent looking I found people had this error and the fix/problem was related to

printer drivers
HP printer scan software
Office 2003
Easy CD creator.

Basically, the fix is to uninstall and reinstall the missing software component.
You can find out what component it is by turning on windows install logging and reading the logs.
