I have a 680i AR Revision Motherboard using the P32 Bios so to use an E8500 CPU. This is to replace my old CPU.

I flashed the bios using a floppy and all went well, cleared CMOS and removed the battery etc. Put my new CPU in the slot and put cooler back on etc.

Turned power on and board booted to show FF on the LED display. It would not boot to windows Vista at all, just a black screen.

I then inserted Vista disk to use repair options etc, sometimes it would hold to do a repair most times not.

Put my old chip back in et voila it works.

Do you guys think that it is a faulty CPU, which was bought from OCUK btw.

How do I RMA a faulty chip to OCUK, I have no way of trying this CPU in another motherboard.

My system works perfectly with the other CPU 2.66 Conroe.

Thankyou for your help.
