just tried charging my phone up in the car the usb thing lights up so it getting some power , but phone doesn't charge tried another usb adaptor same thing lights up but no juice to the phone , cables are fine tried on a home charger.

any ideas as to what the problem is anyone ? dodgy fuse ? i should add i know nowt about auto electrics, it worked when i first got the car so something has gone wrong since.

Worth checking the fuse though these are usually either ok or busted, usually lives in the fuse box behind the glovebox - the hand book will tell you what number it is.

What year Focus is it? don't know if it's still a fuse in the mk3 as some manufacturers are looking into using a FET instead of fuse so this can reset itself and reduce the amount of dealer visits for blown fuses.

hi it's a 07 plate 3dr mk II found the manual out it mentions cigar lighter , rear auxilary power socket fuse 39 rear tho ? cant say i have seen a socket in the back of the car just the one under the radio

The mk2 Focus often has the wiring in place for a rear auxiliary socket in the boot even if there's no socket - might not actually have the fuse in the board either. Cigar lighter would be your best bet, you can always pull the fuse and see if there's still 12V at the socket.

Another possibility is a poor earth - giving enough voltage to light up the charger but not enough for it to work properly. Could be tricky finding that though.

okay cheers :) i'll try the fuses book says fuse 39 20amp for the cig lighter 2 quid from halfords so worth a try. before i give my local garage a bell.

Hope the £2 is for a little pack of the fuses, they cost absolute peanuts! you'll need a fuse removal tool or small pair of pliers to get the fuse out - there's usually one in the lid of the fusebox under the bonnet if you're stuck.

Sorted it dodgy fuse chargers working now :)

one on the left partialy blown ? wierd it was getting some power

Not seen that before, but if the fuse has gone high resistance without blowing then that obviously explains your issue. Nice and easy fix luckily.
