I got a 5770 recently, works luvverly, but every so often, both on the desktop and during games, my monitor blanks out for about 3 seconds. It's exactly like when you change resolutions on the desktop, you get a few seconds of black screen while the monitor resets itself to the new resolution. Except I'm not doing anything of the sort.

It could happen twice in ten minutes, or once in two hours, and I can't for the life of me figure out why it's doing it. I'm leaning towards dodgy dvi cable at the moment, but just wondering if anyone else has had similar happen?

I had a the same issue with my GTX 295 it would suddenly go blank the screen for a few seconds and then reappear again sometimes it would do it once or twice then not at all anyway turned out my card was faulty got my money back and put the money towards the 5970 had to test a crap load of stuff first though before returning it

it could be a dodgy cable causing the issue, but i tryed a few cables with mine with no luck at all.

Don't know if it's relevant, but I get this a few times after quitting a game running at non-native (for old 4:3 stuff usually). Doesn't persist though.

I get this problem too but with an older 3850... from quick searches on google etc, I have found that it could possibly be the power supply in the monitor as opposed to the graphics card or the cables...

just an idea to check mate...i dont know myself exactly how to check this though lol :S
