I keep loosing sound to my monitor's speakers to fix it i have to turn the monitor off and wiggle the displayport cable were it goes in to the monitor then turn the monitor back on and test the sound. If there is no sound i have repeat the process again. I have not had the monitor very long it's a Asus Rog Strix XG279Q and the displayport cable is brand new a Kabledirekt 8k and it's one of the locking type which means you have to press the button to pull it out. Also i know when it's not working because the code on my motherboard show's AA when it's normaly 40. just wondered if any one has any ideas to fix it permantley.

If you can, test with a HDMI cable.

DP cables, if they use pin 20, cause problems, they send 3v down the pin when they shouldn't. Random black screens seems to be the problem there though.

Try another DP cable.

DP cables seem flaky to me. I get random black screens on boot or when the monitor is turned off and on, solved by switching the DP used in the GPU. And it's the same with a certified DP cable that does not use pin 20.

My conclusion, who ever invented DP's, needs a slap!
