Dodgy practice by motor trader (surprise surprise!)

A bit late now if he's already traded it in and given all keys though.

Assuming he gave them all away to begin with.

I've still got a key to my old Saxo VTR which I haven't owned for well over 5 years.

Reason for this is the trader I bought my Leon off didn't have the spare, but said they would retrieve it from the previous owner. I said they can have their spare key when they get me mine... they never did.

I'll be giving her a call in the morning to see what she thinks but I imagine she won't want to rock the boat as such in case she has to take her car back to the trader for any warranty work (it has a 3mth warranty)

If he's the type of person to do this, I doubt the warranty he has give her is even worth paper it is printed on. Plus he's obviously shady, so who knows what else he'd try charge for if you came back with 1 fault.

Maybe he doesn't want them scrapped and the council has done it for his continued use of public roads as storage?

Phone the DVLA. It's untaxed. They'll scrap it for the dealer and charge (fine) him for it.

Spoke to the GF this morning and typically (!) she's not bothered! - I think she's worried if she needs to take the car back to him for whatever reason....

I think a little word on my behalf to the council is in order.....

Cheers for the replys chaps, I'll get the phone number off the car on my way to work in a moment - forgot to get it last night....

Quite the oposite to being rude to the trader, why not call him and ask him if you can just have it back if he doesnt actually want it?

Indeed, you could probably sell it privately for what ? ...£1k perhaps if it looks good (impossible to tell from the pictures) and has an MOT and some tax.

could it not be that the dealer uses tthe street as 'storage' and someone in the street has
got annoyed and reported it to the council, so before the cuttoff date they will be removed
by the dealer?

bullit

Who posted the V5 off, your GF or the dealer?

Because if he has done it (may be not) she will have to prove she slod it to him.
Does she want the bill from the council?

She will be bothered then

Imho,It was an absolute nail :p rotten sills, needs suspension work, has a slipping clutch, crumpled wing ,Mondeo bumpers i.e. full of cracks.

Failed on 18points on the MOT and I'd not pay £100 for it.

A minor detail is its not my car, it belongs to the trader who took it as part exchange from my gf. iirc he gave her £350 for it and she did well to get that :p

I just find it a cheeky **** take on the traders part that he dumps his unwanted part exes at the side of the road, almost next to his plot, and effectively expects the council (and council tax payers)to pick up the tab for taking them to a breakers yard.

Perhaps, the Mondeo will magically dissapear just prior to its removal date, and that will be that - I'll have jumped to the stereotypical conclusion that by being a motor trader he's dodgy :o - Then again, its still parked at the roadside with no tax.....
