Dodgy PSU?

I re-installed XP last night, and i've been having some wierd problems.

Last night, after i'd installed XP, the drivers and the Sims 2, i turned off the computer. After it powered down, i started walking away. I'd got three steps away when the computer powered itself back up again :S so i hit the power button, and it shut down. i walked away again, and it powered back up again!
again, i held in the power button until it turned off, and waited, and yet again it turned on again. It was late, so i just turned it off and pulled the power cord out, and none surprisingly it stayed off this time

i came home from work today, put the power cable back in tried to turn it on, but it wouldnt power up. so i checked the cable, made sure the switch was on on the back of the PSU and tried again. nothing. so now im starting to think the PSU has died. i went to the garage to see if i had a spare, no such luck, but when i came back to the computer, it was half way through booting up!!

i havent dared turned it off again yet incase it doesnt start again, but there is obviously something not right.

Any ideas?

AMD X2 3800
2 x 1Gb GeiL Value DDR
Abit AN8 Mobo
Antec True Power 580W PSU
XFX GeForce 7800Gt 256Mb PCI-E

i'd take the PSU out ASAP and check all the connectors, sounds like something is wrong for sure
