Hey guys,

My computer has started making a constant high pitch noise when the power is turned on at the wall (it makes this high pitch noise whether the computer is turned on or off) and if it is turned off at the wall and then turned back on you have to give it a while before the computer will actually turn on again! Obviously this is not a good thing and I am assuming my psu is on its last legs? Anyone else experienced this before?

I have an Antec Sonata II case with the 450 watt psu that it came with.

If I do have to get a new psu can someone recommend me somethin decent that will last a decent amount of time and have a bit of future proofin. - but doesnt cost ridiculous sums of money :)
Cheers
Robin

I wouldn't get a Hiper tbh mate, they have been failing recently soo much, its unbelievable, I think there about 13 reports of failures in one week alone :/

As Semi-pro said, The Corsairs are the best PSUs about, they are silent, great build quality (made by Seasonic) and come with a nice 5 Year warranty...although if these are a bit pricey, then anything by Seasonic, FSP (Sparkle), Enermax and Tagan would be great for you :)

Yes thats true masslac but then i could look at it that I would be keeping my antec sonata case and psu and only upgrading the other components. So getting a PSU which has some future proofing would save me having to buy another new PSU in the summer for instances (if i choose to upgrade the system in the summer!)...

got a corsair myself and its silent. The build quality is second to none!

Corsair wouldn't offer a 5 year warranty if the PSU wasn't good enough!
