Dodgy XFX 6770

A friend of mine came to me with this problem, wondered if you guys could help him out.

"So I got a 6770 GPU last week ... installed it works great.
then i go to run bf3 yesterday and it just doesnt run ...
turns out this higher end gpu will max out with low temperatures sitll though on frikking minecraft
tried it in my dads computer works perfectly
so ... i did a fresh install of windows formatted the hdd twiceand all that
tried old gpu driver new ones
still get this damn problem
updated bios all that good stuff
done memory checks its all good cpu check its all good gpu check iuts all good
maybe the HDD?"

I've asked him for the system spec;

AMD FX4100 < I suspect this may be the route of hell itself
8 GB RAM 1600Mhz
160Gb HDd maxtor
XFX 6770 GPU
870S C45(FX) mobo
Xclio GoodPower 750W psu
Everything is brand new

I've suggested he try the psu from his dad's machine.

That psu sounds dodgy tbh. Never heard of that make.
