Does 720p have diffrent refresh rates??

Hi guys,

Was wondering if any of you knowlegable people could answer a question for me.

I am currently having trouble connecting up my TVDrive to my Philips LCD TV and I have posted about this on another form.

One of the guys there says that I could be having a problem because there are diffrent refresh rates that the box and TV could be working on. He says that one could be 50Hz and the other 60 Hz and if thats the case it wont work.

I thought that if the TV said it supports 720p and the box supports 720p then they should work?
Had a good look about the Net and cant see anywhere that advises you to check that the TV and appliance work on the same refresh rate.

Is this guy just talking rubbish?

The trouble I was having was that there was interference all over the picures,sometimes the pictured showed up and then disappeared to be replaced with static-as if there was no channel tuned in.

The engineer has actually sorted the problem though-it looks like it is a bad connection between the box and cable. If you push the cable fully into the socket then you get the above but if you pull it out slightly and get it at the correct angle then you get a prefect picture.

Telewest are sending me one of there HDMI cable and the company that sold me the cable are sending me a DVI-HDMI converter for the back of the LCD TV instead.

But everything is working perfectly at the moment
