well ive seen some say it does and some say not :confused:this is only reason i havent ordered one yet.can anyone give me a link that shows that it definitly works.tried looking on web/net and cant find anything of substance.

is there anyone on here whos got a new 4850 and pci 1.0a would be a lot of help thanks.

well i have rung ocuk and informed me that the ati 4850 wont work in a pci express 1.0a slot mobo.so thats a bummer :(

Can someone confirm this then? I was just about to order a 4850 until i heard this, otherwise i may as well get the BFG 8800GTS.

My current system is

AM2 3800 @ stock (hoping to upgrade to AM2 X2 6400)
2GB Corsair DDR2
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe
Asus 7900GTX
Dell 2007WFP 20" monitor

Any suggestions?

Thanks

PCI-E 1.1 is the standard that most people have. All PCI-E 2.0 graphics cards will work in any PCI-E 1.1 slot AFAIK.

PCI-E 1.0a is older, and there are compatibility problems with some cards and motherboards. Apparently, most of these problems occur on VIA boards though.

@ Bartman2007, you should be fine.

@ magicroundabout, ditto.

What motherboard do you have ~>Dg<~?

cheers for that.

do you know what mine is?
1.1 or 2.0

i've searched and searched everywhere but nothing tells me.

and i'm pretty useless at knowing where to look to see what it is within my comp etc

well from what i found on net and when rung overclockers they said it wouldnt work which sucks big time cause i was just gunna order one :mad:thing is a gt will work in it but a 4850 wont dont know why.

so now limited to a 8800gt :(

well this is my mobo but cant find any info of anyone running a 4850.

mb MSI K9N Neo-F V3 PCiEx

ive seen some people with 8800gt with them in :confused:so dont no what too do.cant afford new motherboard aswell as graphics card.but would really like the 4850 someone must have one with same mb.

i need a new card so if i cant find anything more out it will have to be a gt.thing is the woman i spoke to at ocuk didnt inspire me with much confidence either.so i dont know who to believe is right or wrong.

Is the DFI Expert sk.939 ok with the new ati cards?

Well, my 8800GT and 8800GTS G92 which is pci-e 2 worked fine in it although at the time of 8800GT launch there was some debate then as well.

Pci-e 2 is meant to be a standard so I can't see why a 4850 wouldn't unless ATI broke the standard?
