Does a 5970 use game profiles ?

Hello,

I am new to crossfire after receiving a 5970 from the MM (Thanks Geekzoid ). It works but im confused. In games do I need a game profile before it activates both cards ? I can't seem to see any X Fire profiles in the ATI CCC. I am running 10.8 the latest one from AMD.
