Does a less annoying Android keyboard/autocorrect exist?

As a means of entry I quite like the default keyboard, but the autocorrect is infuriating. This is what I want from the autocorrect:
  • Never "correct" a correctly spelled word to another word - no "correcting" put->out
  • Never insert punctuation into a word - no more "correcting" were->we're or cats->cat's
  • Never change the capitalisation of a word - no more "correcting" epic->Epic
Does such a thing exist? Anyone have any recommendations for a keyboard?

The default keyboard can carry from phone to phone - which one are you currently using?

I'm using google keyboard, and I don't think that it does many of the corrections that you are referring to.

It's Google keyboard. There's also Samsung keyboard on here, but it's no better.

Edit GBoard, apparently, but that is Google's keyboard, right?

Yeah, that's right. You've got me wondering now if I've changed any settings on mine as I don't think half of that happens.

Edit Nothing odd set on mine. The only thing that I can think of that might be making a difference is that I generally used the glide typing mode.

GBoard has been absolutely fine for me auto correct wise, but as above I glide type.

The best non-glide keyboard I found is Swiftkey, could give that a go?

I use a mixture of glide and traditional typing usually. Glide works okay, it's when I type that its annoying the heck out of me.

Swiftkey seems to have most of the same problems, but - in any case - it doesn't offer characters with umlauts on a long press on a, e, o, and u or ß on a long press on s, and since I'm sometimes type in German that makes it not terribly useful to me (yes, I could switch the layout to a full Deutsch one but that's even more annoying).

I use SwiftKey, but dislike it mainly because of the delete key being too big. I would like it if they allowed you to edit the location of this key as I'm often hitting it instead of m and then the word gets totally ruined. It's not perfect but I do like it's ability to correctly guess words that have the spaces missed out, and also its memory of what I type is fantastic that I often don't type any more, just hit the next word it guesses I will be typing.

For example. I will write this sentence with no spaces and let's see if it gets it correct.

I enjoy going to the cinema.

Perfect 10/10

Now I will not type anything other than the first word and hit the next suggestion.

Thank you for requesting to book this job in with us. I can confirm that we can do the date so have penciled this in for you. To finalise the booking and secure the slot I just need to sort out an £80 deposit with you which comes off the final total.

10/10. How easy is that for sending repeat emails. It's often quicker to use my phone to send an email than it is my pc.
