hey
I'm looking for a a cable that has 2 inputs for 3.5mm jacks and an output which is also a 3.5mm jack. I know that this a speaker/headphone spliter but I was looking for one that perhaps has a switch so you could switch between the 2 inputs i.e. not have sound coming out of both at the same time. The basic idea is that I'm pluggin 2 computers into one set of 2.1 speakers (via a splitter) and i need some kind of switch so i don't have sound from both occuring at the same time.
Thanks for any help you can give in advance

Try m4p1n or eBay, if not you could easily buy the bits there to make one yourself.

So a switch box. Yes, those sort of things are sold everywhere :)

So something like this: http://electronicsusa.com/mk1and2.html

Also, look up: "Four-Way Stereo Audio Switch Box" in google :) (The black one with rotary knob. That is what I have at home, but you'll need a couple of adaptors for you inputs if you wanted to use that particular model as it's is mostly RCA connectors. (and one 3.5mm)

Oh thats exactly what I need, thanks very much
does that switch box (the black one) have a 3.5mm output jack or is it a RCA output?

You have 4 inputs (1 of them being a 3.5mm stereo jack input), and one output.

So:
INPUT 1: RCA
INPUT 2: RCA
INPUT 3: RCA
INPUT 4: 3.5mm Stereo Jack

OUTPUT: RCA

Bear in mind that was just an example for you to show they do exist. If it doesn't exactly fit your needs, i'm sure there's one out there that does!

So for the above... you could plug one in directly but need a 3.5mm stereo jack coupler and stereo to rca (phono) cable to get the second input. You also need a second cable and coupler to get your output (maybe you wouldn't need the 2nd coupler depending on what your outputing to).
