Hey,

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not but if i buy a sound card, Will the audio/microphone jacks on the front of my case still work or will i need to always use the jacks on the actual sound card?

Also i've noticed a couple sound cards don't have microphone jacks, What are you supposed to do if you want to use a microphone with them cards?

They will still work, but they will run from the soundcard.

Standalone mics work quite well with the 2nd question, either 3.5mm or USB.

If your case's front panel jacks are currently working, it would mean that you have connected the case's "HD Audio" cable to the "HD Audio" socket of the motherboard. If you getting a dedicated soundcard, you just need to unplug that HD Audio cable from the motherboard and plug it onto the soundcard instead, so you case's jacks would be accessing the soundcard rather than the onboard sound of the motherboard.

Oh right i didn't know sound cards have this, Do they all support this?

Should do...currently I have my case's HD Audio cable connected to my Asus Xonar DX instead of the motherboard's, and I believe Creative's soundcard would have the same. But it might worth double-checking on the specific sound card you considering getting before buying it.

Depending on you budget, but I would recommend the Creative Sound Blaster Z. Good all round performance and doesn't break the bank. As for the Hd Audio Cable of your case, you would just plug the connector into the golden pins on the right side of the card you see in the pic:
