Does AA and AF affect game stability?

Just wondering as the only games that seem to freeze are the ones which i turn AA and AF on? Namely Generals online.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Generals doesn't respond very well to AA and AF. It shouldn't affect stability though, just significantly lower your FPS.

i play generals with AA and AF turned on and the frame hit is damned right atrocious, it goes from super smooth no matter what to smooth with some definate slowdown, and some more severe slowdown in big battles and stuff, but any AA or AF seems to really affect the sage engine, meaning battle for middle earth 2 (based on same engine i think) won't like it either

No, i didn't noticed slowdown 4x AA, 16x AF, the game simply just freezes up!

I think VPU recover tries to save it as the monitors goes off and it usually cuts back into the game, but sometimes it will not come back into the game and just freeze.

I use Coolbits, i have removes the standard GPU cooler cover and attached the fan that came with my 3700SD HS, its attached so that it blows air diredtly over the GPU. Ive unplugged the stock fan and the new fan runs at an inaudable 100%.

so its been modded then? :p
Well ive screwed on a different fan so i spose so, i also removed the HSF and removed the thermal pads, replaced with AS5 incluing the plate that sits on the memory chips.
So the mod is ive unplugged the standard fan, removed the cover, screwed a new fan onto the GPU H/S and replaced the thermal pads with AS5.
Once the summer is here i'll prob drop to 510/1.37

just got leadtek 7600GT yesturday, and generals runs flawlessly with AA and AF, it was just my crappy X1600XT, lol
