Does AMD and Intel have a short lifespan on driver support for mobile graphics?

Sorry for another post. - So while im deciding what laptop to get still, i installed BO6 on my current laptop which is a main game i want to play, to see if works to use as a comparison, but my 4700u only seems to update to 24.9 and BO6 needs 24.10 and as such i chose to ignore. Havent quite got it to work properly yet, even had issues on my desktop, but it got me thinking about drivers.

I tried to find a list of what supports the correct drivers for the game for all 3 manufacturers and the 10 series gtx cards support it, but not sure of the oldest Nvidia mobile gpu and ive concluded my laptop is 5 years old and appears end of life in that sense?

Seems Nvidia support is still better in terms of longevity or is that not the case and ive just not found all the information regarding the others? 5 years is the longest ive owned a computer/laptop, but if my laptop did all of what i wanted i would keep it a lot longer. I have a series S + portable screen and a travel bag, so its not like i need to have this game on laptop, i just have my laptop on me more regularly.


ARC graphics of the ultra 5 125h, 760m from the 8640hs(780m maybe from R7), RTX 3050/4050 are the only graphic options im interested in, so im just trying to figure out if i will get more than 5 years out of either.

I suspect the problem with the 4700U could be related to the architecture, since AMD have largely moved on from supporting Vega and are focusing their efforts on RDNA.

Nvidia usually have long support cycles. Arc who knows, there's still rumours that Intel could drop Arc at some point. The latest Arc is quite different to the previous one and I wouldn't be surprised if their driver support evolves quickly so they can target the most gains and maintain their competitiveness.

Edit: also, realistically.., I must say though that in 5 years time most laptop graphics are going to be beyond any kind of serious gaming anyway.

Yeah could be, but im not familiar with all that to know to be fair. I do know mobile counterparts dont act in the same way as desktops which i have had the game run on older amd hardware when i did my testing. This is my first attempt for this game on my laptop. Probably the most demanding game i tried and played a lot of was mad max and that ran really well.

I play city skylines(not 2), sometimes the sims 3 and/or 4, South park, Jurassic world evolution(and 2) and maybe the odd other games thats similar(sometimes older). I lack storage, so i have to limit my library and so now i will add BO6(and newer releases) to the list. The laptop was purchased for its touchscreen, 8 cores and folding tablet mode for designing, playing any game was just a bonus and aside from the tablet mode/touchscreen, thats exactly how the new purchase will be viewed at.

BO6 is the only deciding factor from the gaming point. It doesnt even have to run on medium, just as long as its playable to continue progress.
