I recently bought a h50-1 to replace my Silent Knight 2. Altho the temps from the h50 are AMAZING!! .. does any one else feel its really ugly? >< lol

This was my case

this is my case now

As you can see i added some cable wraps to try and liven the case up a bit and hide the black tubes. Ive even thought about buying a new case with a smaller window to hide the uglyness lol. Any one else feel its ruined the way their case looks?
P.s sorry for the crappyness of the pics. One was taken on a low res cam and the other on my mobile. :)

Nope.

Then again I consider myself above windows, LED fans, cold cathodes and so on. That's why I have an Antec Mini-P180 and plain fans.

But when I open my case side.... all I can see in there is badass.

Nice! how are have having that many fans connected working out? I remember reading somewhere that u dont see any benifit from having two fans connected??(unlessed ona rad in a push/pull system. looks nice tho!! lol:D

Counting from the left of the stack:

1) Corsair stock fan
2) Not fan (shroud)
3) H50 Radiator
4) Not fan (shroud)
5) Enermax Magma fan (same as the red one below)
6) Not fan (shroud)

A shroud is a fan which has had the motor and fan blades cut out so it's just a frame left. Helps with noise and airflow a bit. The other two case fans have a shroud attached to each as well.

oooooh nice idea :D:D I have done the same on the back of my case! (i have a white flexie duct connected to 3 shrouds(then a enermax mafma batwing fan) and the otehr end handing out the window (to suck in cold air)

Like so!!

(needs a damn good tidy! (the other white tube below sucks air the GPU pumps out down the tube and through the other window!)

lol insane pc, you getin good temps with the madness of a set up?

Yes and no! On idle the temps drop around 3-4c :( was hopeing for a bit more than that tbh! Aint tryed removing it on a stress test yet! You air pumping out the top has DEFF dropped tho since i added the duct! lol

Im trying to work out a way to add a fan to the other end of the duct to help with pulling in cold air faster:)

(unless u wernt talking to me) lol

Most of what you see is as fans on Hotwired's H50 are probably just frames of fans which he's using as shrouds.

It's a nice idea but I can't honestly see the fan being strong enough to pull in cold air fast enough with such long ducting. By the time it gets to the PC the air has most likely levelled to room temperature. In fact, I'd go as far to say that you may even be restricting airflow using ducting that length, and by limiting the area directly around the fan by covering it with the ducting, you may even increase intake air temperatures.

That's the sort of setup you'd see on cold air intake systems on cars, and even at that, the length of ducting used wouldn't be that long. The amount of air an average engine would take in would be considerably more also. Not trying to say it's wrong, just wondering whether it is actually efficient.

Tbh i had the same worry! I did a number of tests and found there to be an improvment with the duct over just pumping in air from my room. The test i did was having a stress test going fthen around 30mins mark adding the duct while the stress test was ongoing. The temps sat around 45.5-47 without the duct and with the duct the temps dropped to around 40.5 to 42.5 (amd over drive)
Other tests i tryed was surrounding the duct in tin foila nd putting it inside anotehr duct (keeping hot air out) but temps didnt drop compared to a single duct. I would prefer putting a Splitter 3 quaters of the way up the tube and then adding a reversed exstracter fan on both ends but it would cost WAY to must with electrical conversions etc. I do agree tho even tho the 12cm fan IS a very powerful fan i feel it isnt getting enough cool air into the tube.
I even went througha phase of trying to work out a way to add ice into a compartment inside the duct to cool the air as it passes through, then replacing the ice every few hours..... Lmao but then i rearlised i had WAY to much time on my hands and went for a day out in chedder with my G.f ;) lol

Taken the day we went last year ;)

Im also working on the pricible that the duct is air tight enough that the length shouldnt make MUCH diffrence. One of the otehr tests were to use a much shorter one and have it pumping air in through the nearer window (the gpu window i call it now ;) ) but once again no temp diffrence :(

For a moment there I thought that was a tumble dyrer

TBH the corsair temps seem achievable on air, I idle at about 39 with a mild oc I have been tempted to go for the H50 but just to drop temps by a few degrees it doesnt seem worth it.

lol! I attempted to find a paint that would be able to dry on them (black least to make it look part of the case some what) but nothing seemed to word... guess i could do a 'blue peater' job on it and wrap it in paper mashie (is that how you spell it? :'( ) then paint it!
