Currently using Quark 7 and pretty much have it licked (work as a deisngner for a magazine publisher).

But......ive been hearing good things about inDesign, and was wondering if poeple could give abit more of an insight to it?

Is it easy once you have known Quark for so long to learn InDesign?.

I have a CS2 version, and its does just "seem" smoother.

I've used Quark before (Ok it was about 10 years ago ;)) and have used InDesign for the past few versions.

From the people I know that have recently stopped using Quark for publishing and moved to InDesign they all prefer it, and find it more powerful. Don't think it was too hard for them to make the change.

Ive got the full version of CS2.

Was just how hard it was to swap over.

I'd used Quark for the best part of 8-10 years before switching to InDesign and now that I have, I wouldn't willingly go back. Not sure what is new in Quark 7 - haven't actually bothered to find out because chances are most of it is stuff that ID was doing a couple of versions ago.

Are they still trying to push it as some sort of Dreamweaver/Director alternative like that laughable attempt they made a few years ago? At that time, their 'industry standard' program struggled to produce PostScript that would go through the RIPs we had on our imagesetters - no way in hell would I trust it to produce even half-decent HTML.

I firmly believe that if you can use Quark, you can use ID with very little hassle. I'm pretty sure it comes with the option to use the same keyboard shortcut as Quark for the equivalent function in ID.
