As the thread title really, I live 3.5 miles from work but am quite unfit.

Never been in to excessive physical exercise, but do love being on a bicycle.

If I got one, I'd be biking all year round, apart from really harsh conditions. Anybody got an electric bike, I really like the idea of these.

Yup - have a read:-

And yep - pretty much use it all year round for 19.4mile round trip commute. Averaged 10 out of every 12 days on it last year - only put 1500miles on the car!

But for 3.5miles I'm not sure I'd bother with an ebike and just get a regular bike and take it easy for the first few weeks of commuting.

You should consider a normal road bike. It would only take a couple of weeks to build up your fitness before you can cycle that distance without even breaking a sweat.

Thanks for the replies gents.

See, THere is a huge incline for about 600-700 metres from my house to work. This would be first thing, about 5 in the morning. I work 12 hour shifts and am generally pretty tired physically after work, so the electric motor really would help.

My work does the cycle scheme to work, which is what has started me off about thinking about a bike again.

I have been looking at this one, any thoughts?

Kudos have a good reputation amongst ebike users.

Fairly good looking for an ebike ;-)

Why don't you work that unfit bum for a couple of weeks so you get fitter instead of going the easy way and looking for excuses? 3.5 miles is dead easy and it'll take no time.
