Somebody added it to a list of recommend Apps to get when you first get you're mac.

I have had a quick look at it but I'm quite sceptical as to wether it can actually be used as a viable replacement for finder.

Does anybody else here use it as such and if so would you recommend it as a purchase :)

Thanks

Been using it for about a year since I switched.

It's been fantastic so far, but since ML I've not reinstalled it on the Air and am trying to live without it.... so far, so good. It's still installed on the iMac and I find it invaluable for the multi-pane display and stacked copy operations, but the differences in the way I use the iMac and Air mean I'm less reliant on it when using the Air.

Try the trial and see how you go.... one of the regulars in here suggested that a poster "learn how to use Finder" when I last enthused about Path Finder, and in part I'm now inclined to agree. Try it for yourself and decide yourself though.

No, it's good but it lacks that proper integration and requires that bit of extra effort to use. The best solution imo is Finder + TotalFinder (or XtraFinder if you prefer free).

Just installed XtraFinder. Works great. Fixes many stupid things such as putting folders on top when sorting. And I have never been a fan off the way you have the ... in the middle of long files names so having it auto expand to the file size is great.

Thanks!

I've never seen that as an issue, I prefer it that the folders are mixed in with the files. On windows its drives me nuts :D

Might be the fact that I came from Windows. But none the less when trying to get to a certain file having the folder at the top to go to the next directory is a lot easier. Especially when I'm on my very much un-sorted storage drive which is cluttered with random TV shows I really must sort at some point XD

I use Path Finder 90% of the time as finder just doesn't cut it for me. Like above I'm from DOS(XTree Gold if anyone remembers) and windows so my file management head is still like that.
